Party Responsibly
CDOT Reminds You to Plan Ahead.
If you plan to ring in the New Year while celebrating with alcohol, the Colorado Department of Transportation wants to remind you to Plan Ahead with a sober designated driver whether that be a friend, cab, or public transportation.
You can use the website www.planaheadcolorado.com as a resource guide as you plan your New Year’s Eve celebration. It has information on overnight parking, public transportation and locations where you can get a free cab voucher to save some money for your sober ride home. If you live in the Denver area, hop on the light rail or take the bus to your party. RTD is offering FREE RIDES on New Year’s Eve.
As an extra incentive this holiday season, the Heat is On campaign has created an interactive way to encourage you to Plan Ahead. Capture the“Keys for the Holidays” on Facebook (Facebook.com/ColoradoDOT) and help your Elf friends get a sober ride home. Everyone who plays will be entered to win A-Basin Ski Lift Tickets. Two will be given away each week in December.
Each year in Colorado, nearly 200 people are killed in alcohol-related crashes and 25,000 drivers are arrested for DUI. The average cost of a DUI is $10,270. That’s a lot of bottles of champagne. Don’t be a statistic, always designate a sober driver.
Want the resources right at your finger tips? Download the R-U-Buzzed app for free on your Android or iPhone. It estimates your Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) and will even call a cab for you.
